7 dead, 14 injured in Ramgarh Highway accident

Ramgarh: Seven people died, and two were critically injured—with about a dozen others sustaining injuries—following a head-on collision between a passenger vehicle and a truck near Lari, within the Rajrappa police station area of Ramgarh district.

The collision occurred around midnight on Thursday on the Ramgarh-Bokaro highway. The passenger vehicle, which was carrying members of a ‘Tasha’ band, bore the brunt of the impact; seven people died at the scene, while two sustained critical injuries. Approximately a dozen others were also injured in the accident. Two of the injured, who were reported to be in critical condition, were referred to RIMS, Ranchi. The other injured people were admitted to Ramgarh Sadar Hospital.

Chaos and cries of distress resounded at the accident site following the crash. The deceased included residents of Marangmarcha in the Rajrappa police station area. Police teams from Rajrappa and the surrounding areas arrived at the scene.

Reports indicate that the passengers—members of the ‘Mehta Sahab Party’—were traveling from Gola towards Ramgarh in a pickup vehicle when it collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction. The accident caused a traffic jam.
