Jharkhand agriculture minister for Sarna code inclusion in caste census

Ranchi, May  26: Jharkhand Congress staged a sit-in protest in front of Raj Bhavan on Monday demanding Sarna religion code.

Agriculture, animal husbandry and cooperative minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey lashed out at the Central Government, BJP and RSS over Sarna religion code. She said that Sarna religion code will have to be included in the seventh column in the caste census at all costs.

“Tribal society believes in equality. collectivity, unity and brotherhood are given priority in tribal society. Tribal society is free to believe and adopt its religion,” said Tirkey.

Jharkhand Congress in-charge K Raju and others were present on the occasion.

Jharkhand minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey said that Marang Gomke had said that the tribal society has lived in collectivism for centuries. RSS does not accept the constitution by which the country is being governed. It does not even consider the constitution as Indian. RSS does not want to give rights to women.

Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey said that the ideology of tribal society does not match Manusmriti.

“History is witness that there has never been any caste system in tribal society. BJP wants to run the tribal society with Manuwadi thinking. It wants to divide the tribal society into castes, but the tribal society will decide what will be its religion? Tribal society is free to believe and adopt its own religion. Its right is mentioned in Article 25 of the Constitution. This is our fundamental right. Sarna religion code will have to be included in the caste census,” stressed Tirkey.

She said that in the caste census to be conducted in the country, Sarna religion code will have to be included in the seventh column at any cost.
