Ranchi: The admission process for 80 CM Schools of Excellence in Jharkhand, established under the government’s ambitious education scheme, commenced on Monday. Parents and guardians can submit applications online or offline until February 10 for the upcoming academic session. The Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) has issued detailed guidelines and schedules to all districts to streamline the enrollment process.

According to JEPC’s guidelines, admissions will be offered for different entry-level classes depending on the school structure:

  • Classes 1 to 12: Admission in Class 1
  • Classes 6 to 12: Admission in Class 6
  • Classes 9 to 12: Admission in Class 9
  • Bal Vatika and Class 1: 40 seats each

The entrance exam is scheduled for March 1, with question papers prepared by JCERT. The first merit list will be published on March 10, followed by admissions from March 11 to March 22. Classes for enrolled students will commence on April 1.

Special provisions for girls

In Kasturba Gandhi Girls Residential Schools, out of the 75 approved seats in Class 6, 25 seats have been reserved for meritorious students under the state government’s scheme. Admissions in these schools will also be conducted through the same entrance exam.

JEPC officials highlighted that the guidelines aim to ensure a fair and transparent process. “We have established help desks at excellent schools and district levels to assist parents and students during enrolment,” a council spokesperson said.

Age and distance criteria

For admission to Bal Vatika, children must be five years old between April 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025. Similarly, children seeking admission in Class 1 must be six years old within the same timeframe. Priority will be given to children of parents residing within two kilometres of the school. If seats remain vacant, those within a seven-kilometre radius will be considered.

School categorization

The 80 schools have been categorized as follows:

  • 4 schools: Classes 1 to 12
  • 27 schools: Classes 9 to 12
  • 48 schools: Classes 6 to 12
  • 1 school: Classes 1 to 10

This large-scale initiative reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing educational standards in the state. A JEPC official remarked, “The CM Schools of Excellence are a transformative step toward providing quality education and shaping the future of Jharkhand’s youth.”

Parents are encouraged to apply early to secure their children’s future in these prestigious schools.
