Jharkhand Govt prepares 12 major mineral blocks for auction, eyes record mining revenue

Ranchi: The state government is expecting a significant rise in mining revenue in the coming financial years as it prepares to auction 12 major mineral blocks across the state. The proposed auction includes blocks containing valuable minerals such as gold, iron ore, copper, limestone and base metals, which are expected to attract substantial investment and boost the state’s earnings from the mining sector.

According to official information, mineral blocks located in Ranchi, Ramgarh, West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan and Giridih districts have been identified for the auction process. The list includes four limestone blocks, five gold blocks, one iron ore block, one base metal block and one copper block.

Among the most significant assets lined up for auction are the Ghatkuri iron ore block in West Singhbhum and several gold and copper-bearing blocks located in East Singhbhum and adjoining districts. These mineral-rich areas are considered strategically important for the state’s industrial and mining growth.

Officials believe that the auction of these blocks will not only generate substantial revenue for the state exchequer but also encourage fresh investments, create employment opportunities and strengthen Jharkhand’s position as one of India’s leading mineral-producing states.

The government is currently completing the necessary preparations and statutory procedures before formally launching the auction process. Once operational, the projects are expected to contribute significantly to the state’s economic development and industrial expansion.
