Jamshedpur, June 12: The first day of Samvaad: The Steel City Youth Parliament, a two-day youth-led parliamentary event, ended on a highly engaging and intellectually stimulating note at the Q Road Club House in Bistupur on Friday.
The event has been jointly organized by Aryan Kumar of Vidya Bharati Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Shaurya Gupta of Rajendra Vidyalaya, and Aditya Pandey of Rajendra Vidyalaya, with the objective of fostering democratic values, leadership skills, and informed public discourse among young minds.
The inaugural session began with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by an inspiring address by SDM Arnav Mishra, who encouraged participants to actively engage in constructive discussions and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s future.
The central agenda for the first day focused on “Deliberation on the Indian Competitive Examination System,” a topic that generated extensive discussions, critical analysis, and diverse perspectives from participants representing both the ruling and opposition benches of the youth parliament.

The proceedings featured multiple parliamentary sessions, including the Opening Speech, Sub-Agenda Discussion on the Open Floor, and the Zero Hour, each reflecting the spirit of democratic debate and policy deliberation.

A significant highlight of the day was the successful passage of a bill through a formal voting process involving both ruling and opposition members.
The bill will be taken up for further deliberations and proceedings on the second day of the event.
The Zero Hour emerged as one of the most vibrant segments of the day, witnessing spirited debates on several contemporary issues of national importance. Participants demonstrated remarkable awareness, analytical thinking, and public speaking skills while discussing matters affecting the country and its citizens.
Adding further prestige to the occasion, Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato attended the event and observed the Zero Hour debates for nearly half an hour. Addressing the gathering thereafter, he delivered an inspiring speech in which he praised the initiative and emphasized the importance of such platforms in nurturing future leaders.
He highlighted how youth-centric democratic forums help develop critical thinking, leadership qualities, and a deeper understanding of governance among students.
The first day of Samvaad: The Steel City Youth Parliament successfully created a platform for meaningful dialogue, constructive debate, and civic engagement, setting the stage for another day of insightful discussions and parliamentary proceedings. Organizers expressed confidence that the event would continue to inspire young participants to become informed, responsible, and proactive citizens of the nation.
