Jewelry and cash worth Rs 12.50 Lakh stolen from former Head Matriarch’s home

Jamshedpur: In a daring act, unknown thieves targeted the residence of former headmother Suchita Chanda in MIG 146 of the RIT police station area on Sunday night. The perpetrators broke the lock and made away with jewelry valued at Rs 12.5 lakh and Rs 5,000 in cash. Suchita Chanda had locked her house before attending a wedding ceremony that night.
The audacious thieves arrived in a green and yellow tempo, making two visits to the residence at 10:15 pm and 2:30 am. The entire incident was captured on a neighbor’s CCTV camera. Upon her return the next morning, Suchita Chanda discovered the broken lock on the main door, a ransacked cupboard, and scattered belongings. She promptly informed her neighbor, BP Srivastava, who checked his house’s CCTV cameras, revealing the thieves’ actions.
A formal written complaint has been filed with the RIT police station. Notably, there has been a surge in thefts, drug-related activities, and gambling businesses in the Adityapur and RIT police station areas. The incident follows a series of thefts, including one where burglars simultaneously targeted three houses in Sai Aanchal Apartment, Adityapur, making away with valuables worth lakhs. The increasing incidents demand heightened police vigilance and intervention.
