Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan: Tribal villages to be linked with 35+ welfare schemes

Jamshedpur: In a bid to ensure effective delivery of welfare schemes to tribal communities, a high-level meeting was held at the Collectorate Auditorium, Jamshedpur, under the chairmanship of the Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. The meeting focused on the preparations for the upcoming Dharti Aaba Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan, scheduled to be conducted from June 15 to June 30 in tribal-dominated villages.

Project Director, ITDA,  Dipankar Chaudhary along with officials from departments such as supply, welfare, public relations, education, social welfare, JSLPS, electricity, drinking water, agriculture, and allied departments were present during the meeting.

During the discussion, Joint Secretary  Prasad highlighted the core objective of the campaign—to reach eligible tribal beneficiaries and ensure their inclusion in over 35 central and state-sponsored public welfare schemes through village-level camps. These include Aadhaar Card Registration, Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Ayushman Bharat Card, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, Kisan Credit Card, Jan Dhan Yojana, PM Vishwakarma Yojana, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, PM National Dialysis Program, Sickle Cell Mission, and PM Awas Yojana among others.

He instructed departmental heads to ensure convergence and coordination to provide scheme benefits efficiently. Departments handling infrastructure-related projects were specifically asked to expedite tender processes for initiatives such as road construction, tribal hostels, Anganwadi centers, and Multipurpose Tribal Marketing Centers.

The campaign, a collaborative effort with the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Sashaktikaran Mission (PM-JANMAN) and Dharti Aaba Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, aims to strengthen tribal identity, expand scheme reach, and provide focused attention to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).

Project Director ITDA, who is also the nodal officer for the campaign, urged departments to actively participate in the block-level village camps. “The campaign will empower tribal communities by bringing the administration to their doorstep,” he said, stressing the importance of grassroots-level engagement for the success of the mission.

The meeting concluded with a clear roadmap and responsibilities assigned to ensure seamless execution of the campaign in the tribal belts of the region.
