Ramgarh (IANS): A Ramgarh court on Friday sentenced gangster Aman Srivastava and his associate Lakhan Sao to life imprisonment for the 2015 murder of 70-year-old Kameshwar Pandey.
The Sentences:
- Murder (Section 302): Life imprisonment and a Rs 10,000 fine each.
- Conspiracy (Section 120B): Life imprisonment and a Rs 10,000 fine each.
- Arms Act (Section 27): Seven years of rigorous imprisonment and a Rs 10,000 fine each.
Case Background: On October 26, 2015, shooters from the Srivastava gang opened fire on Pandey, a resident of Patratu, at a local vegetable market in Patratu, killing him instantly. The court noted that Srivastava orchestrated the hit to spread terror and establish criminal dominance in the region. While the court convicted Srivastava and Sao, it acquitted a third accused, Ganesh Singh, for lack of evidence.
Authorities tightened security around the court premises on Friday to prevent any untoward incidents during the high-profile sentencing.
