Jamshedpur: Gopal Maidan is set to transform into a desert oasis as the East Singhbhum District Marwari Sammelan hosts the three-day Rajasthan Mahotsav-cum-Mela 2026 from May 17 to 19. The highlight of this year’s festival is the debut of “Mini Jaisalmer,” a dedicated zone featuring artificial sand dunes, camel rides, and traditional décor to recreate the royal charm of the Thar Desert.
Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar will inaugurate the event on May 17 at 5 pm. Distinguished guests, including Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi, are also expected to attend.
Beyond the desert dunes, the mela will feature a “Chokhi Dhani” themed village offering authentic Rajasthani cuisine, Ghoomar and Kalbelia dances, and puppet shows. Cultural highlights include a musical performance by Sanjay Mukundgarh, the humorous Marwari play “Shakespeare Mharo Jamai” by Darpan Talks, and a grand finale featuring the “Maru Kokila,” Seema Mishra.
With stalls showcasing ethnic handicrafts, jewelry, and vibrant attire, the festival promises an immersive cultural journey. Organizers have launched a slot-based advance booking system for the popular Chokhi Dhani section to manage the anticipated crowds.
