Jamtara cyber police unveils interstate cyber gang: 12 arrested in raid operation

Jamtara: In a significant breakthrough, the Jamtara cyber police station has successfully exposed and apprehended an interstate cyber gang. SP Animesh Naithani, in a press conference on Sunday, announced that a total of 12 cyber criminals were arrested in coordinated raids conducted in the villages of Sindarjori, Sheetalpur, and Siatand, among others, within the Karmatand police station area.

Led by Cyber DSP Majrul Hoda and Cyber Station In-charge Manoj Kumar, the operation resulted in the arrest of three cyber criminals from West Bengal and nine from the Karmatand police station area. The apprehended individuals include Mo Salman (Niamatpur Madrasa Mohalla, police station Kulti, West Bengal), Dilkhush Das, Vidhan Das (Amravatibhim Colony, police station NTPC Durgapur, West Bengal), Alauddin Ansari, Sachin Das (Sinderjori of Karmatand police station area), and Saurabh Das, Mithun Mandal (Siyatand), Sushil Mandal, Rohit Kumar Mandal, Pritam Mandal, and Vikram Kumar Mandal (Salaiya).

The cyber criminals were reportedly involved in fraudulent activities, deceiving individuals by providing fake mobile numbers for customer care and credit card updates. Notably, five of the arrested individuals had a history of criminal activities, with cases registered against them in the past. The accused were found to have shifted their operations from West Bengal to Karmatand, taking advantage of familial ties.
The cyber criminals were targeting people in Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, and Chandigarh. Investigations revealed that these individuals, who had previously served jail sentences, were actively learning and engaging in cyber crimes. A proposal to impose the Cyber Criminals Act (CCA) is underway for those with a history of robbery or cyber crime, or with more than two registered cases against them.
DSP Majrul Hoda, Cyber Station In-charge Manoj Kumar, and Karmatand police station In-charge Birju Sao were present during the press conference. The authorities emphasized the difficulty in securing bail for such repeat offenders, signaling a robust stance against cybercrime in the region.
