Jamshedpur’s AIDS warrior Dr HK Gardin passes away

Jamshedpur : TMH’s retired physician and skin specialist Dr. HK Gardin, who was identified in Jamshedpur as a warrior of AIDS and HIV, died on Thursday. He was 61 years old. Dr. Gardin was TMH’s renowned skin specialist while he worked for Tata Steel for many years as chairman of the HIV-AIDS Core Committee.

He was also the leader of the campaign for the prevention of AIDS and HIV through Tata Steel and was known as an AIDS warrior doctor in the country and abroad. Dr. HK Gardin lived in Sakchi. On 5 September, he was admitted to TMH after breathing difficulties and high fever, where he became corona positive, but after testing done on 15 September, he became corona negative.

Despite this, he was administered various medicines, including plasma therapy to the remedial, but at 12 noon on Thursday afternoon he breathed his last at TMH. After his death, there was a wave of mourning in the medical world. Dr. HK Gardin also received several awards for working for HIV AIDS in the country and abroad.

On June 1, 2008, he was awarded an international level award by the world-renowned organization �Terry�, after which he got a new identity. Dr. HK Gardin has also been instrumental in making Tata Steel achieve many achievements regarding HIV-AIDS.
