Jamshedpur, June 25 : Jamshedpur Women’s University vice-chancellor Anjila Gupta congratulated the faculties on the successful completion of PhD entrance examination of the varsity.
“Higher education cannot be imagined without research and when it comes to the participation of women, it is known that there is still a lot to be done in the field of research. In a recent statement in the Rajya Sabha, the Government of India has pointed out that with 56,747 women researchers across India, the participation of the ‘half the population’ in research is only 16.6 per cent,” said the vice-chancellor.
“ At the same time, it was also clarified that it is very less than many advanced countries. On June 22, soon after the completion of almost one year of the functional nature of the university and my appointment, today the first research entrance examination was completed. With this step, the university has started providing a platform for research, so that the women of Jharkhand enrolled in higher education will be able to move towards research. It is my priority that the university soon develops into a center of research,” said Gupta.
Out of total 122 candidates, 90 candidates appeared for the examination Research Entrance Examination JWURET-I and 32 candidates remained absent. Three examination halls were made. All the 12 subjects taken up for research by the University; PhD aspirants in Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Economics, English, Hindi, Home Science, Music, Odia, Political Science, Urdu and Commerce participated in it.
