Jamshedpur, Feb 17: A speeding truck ran over two youths on the Patamada-Purulia main road on Thursday, killing one of them on the spot.
Sources said the deceased was identified as Somnath Hansda, 22, a resident of Gokulnagar near Bora Bazar. The injured youth, Solen Soren, was taken to MGM Hospital where his condition was reportedly serious.
Soren told police earlier he and his cousin Somnath had come to Tamolia to meet his sister. Around 9 am, the two left for their home on a motorcycle. Near Bhadodih, the two were following a bus. When the bus took to the left, a truck coming at high speed knocked down the motorcycle. Both Solen and Somnath were thrown apart on the road and serious injured. They lay on the road for several hours. Some commuters later came to their help and sent them to MGM Hospital for treatment.
