Jamshedpur, Nov 29: The court of District Judge Anil Kumar Mishra on Thursday acquitted C Sahil Kumar alias Suraj and Devendra Singh, accused of assaulting truck driver Chandrama Paswan, due to lack of evidence. The case pertained to the January 27, 2021, incident in which Paswan, a driver for Maruti Enterprises, was severely injured near RD Tata Chowk after being struck on the head with an iron rod.
According to the FIR lodged at Golmuri police station, the accused stopped Paswan’s truck on the way to Ranchi and attacked him after a road altercation. Passersby alerted the police, who arrested the accused on the spot and rushed the injured driver to MGM Hospital. He was later referred to TMH for advanced treatment.
During the trial, both Paswan and his truck helper failed to identify the accused in court, leading to their acquittal. The lack of corroborative evidence ultimately benefited the accused.
