Jamshedpur, Nov 25: Jamshedpur Local Trailer Owners Union has called for an indefinite ‘Chakka Jam’ strike all over Jharkhand from 25th December onwards in support of their various demands. The outfit members would also stage a sit-in at Birsa Chowk. This was informed on Friday by the union president Jai Kishore Singh.

Addressing a press conference, union president Jai Kishore Singh said the agitation is aimed at putting pressure on the state government to fulfill the demands of trailer owners. “We demand reduction in registration fee of heavy vehicles in Jharkhand. If other states charge a lesser amount, why cannot Jharkhand government do it here?” said Singh.

Singh said the state government did not give any tax rebate to truckers during Covid-19 pandemic. He said the truckers should not be exploited in the name of permit and fitness certificate.
