Jamshedpur, Feb 13: Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industries (SCCI) has appealed to the state government to expedite measures for the speedy development of industries and trade in Kolhan division.
Taking a step forward in this direction, a delegation of SCCI led by its president Vijay Anand Moonka met Chief Secretary Sukhdev Singh, Additional Chief Secretary cum Land Revenue Secretary L Khiangte, Tourism Secretary Dr Amitabh Kaushal and Director, Industries, Jitendra Singh, and handed them a letter with suggestions on development roadmap of Kolhan division.
“Due to the absence of an airport in and around Jamshedpur, no new and big industries are coming to this region. Local people have to spend more time and money to travel to other places. Setting up an airport here would give a fillip to economic activities in the region,” said Moonka.
The SCCI delegation members also demanded that DVC electricity supply should be ensured for the industries of the region. They said major automobile companies manufacturing two wheelers, three wheelers and four wheelers including tractors should be invited to establish their plants in Kolhan. This would greatly benefit small industries and provide them a market, they said.
The Chamber members informed the Chief Secretary that industries having electricity as raw material are now migrating outside Kolhan. They further said that a cooperative society of traders should be formed to run the Bazar Samitis and the existing Bazar Samiti should be dissolved. They said the shops of Bazar Samiti should be leased out to traders working in the state for the past many years.
The traders also demanded rest houses for farmers and traders, warehouses for storage of agricultural produce and construction of cold storage. They further demanded that mutation of lands should be ensured at the time of their registration.
Other demands raised by the delegation include development of tourism in Kolhan by introducing various facilities such as restaurants at Chandil Dam, water sport and ropeway facility from Dimna to Dalma.
The delegation included honorary general secretary Manav Kedia, vice president Nitesh Dhut and Bharat Makhani.
