Jamshedpur to host Baisakhi Mela on April 25

Bhangra, Giddha and Gatka to Highlight Festivities

Jamshedpur, April 23: A grand Baisakhi Mela will be organised on April 25 at Kalu Bagan in Birsanagar (Jamshedpur), celebrating the spirit of faith, service, and brotherhood associated with the festival of Baisakhi.

The event is being jointly organised by Dashmesh Prakash Gurudwara and the Sikh Naujawan Sabha. The programme will be held from 6:30 PM to 11:00 PM and will feature a variety of cultural and religious performances.

According to Paramjit Singh Roshan, President of the Gurudwara, all preparations for the mela have been completed. He said the event will showcase vibrant Bhangra and Giddha performances by the well-known Sunny Bhangra Group of Jamshedpur, along with other cultural presentations celebrating Punjabi traditions. He appealed to members of the Sikh community across the Kolhan region to attend the mela in large numbers and support such initiatives aimed at preserving cultural heritage.

The programme will also include an exciting display of Gatka, along with theatrical performances focused on social awareness. Organising committee members Hardev Singh, Akash Singh, and Roshan Singh said the event aims to bring the community together and promote unity and harmony.

Other members, including Vicky Singh, Deepak Singh, and Hira Singh, have urged devotees to attend the event with their families and contribute to its success.

The mela will feature activities for all age groups, especially children and youth, with a mix of traditional dance, religious plays, and cultural programmes. A large turnout is expected, with enthusiasm already building across the region for the upcoming celebration.
