Merchant of Venice Skit Enthralls Students at RMS Balichela School

Literary Activities Promote Reading Culture Among School Students

Jamshedpur, April 23: Students of the Literary Club of DBMS College of Education celebrated World Book Day by organising a special programme titled “Shakespearean Era” at RMS Balichela School in Sonari.

On the occasion, B.Ed. students presented a skit based on The Merchant of Venice, which received appreciation from students and teachers alike. The event also featured competitions such as Ramp Walk and Book Review, in which students of Classes 9, 10, and 11 participated enthusiastically.

The judging panel included  Ritu Asthana from Loyola School and Subarna Chaudhary from Tarapore School. Special guests Babita Kedia and Vandana Jain of Rajasthan Maitri Sangh encouraged students and highlighted the importance of reading habits.

Principal Pratima Sinha appreciated the initiative and said such activities help students understand literature beyond classroom learning. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Meenakshi Chaudhary, Assistant Professor at DBMS College.

In the Book Review competition, Dolly Patra secured first place, followed by Arush Pushkar and Vishakha. In the Ramp Walk competition, Toshi Raj Verma stood first, while Shweta Singh and Vishakha Kumari secured second and third positions respectively. Winners were awarded certificates and prizes.
