Students Turn Climate Crusaders Through Unique Programme

Jamshedpur/Panchgani, April 23: The “Classrooms to Climate Action Crusaders (CCAC) 2025–26” initiative has concluded, promoting environmental responsibility among school students across the country. The programme, inspired by the vision of Late Shri A.P.R. Nair, aimed to encourage schools to integrate sustainability into everyday learning.
Led by the Kerala Public School Trust and supported by TERRE Policy Centre, the initiative was conducted from July 2025 to April 2026. It brought together 78 schools nationwide, out of which 50 completed the programme and 10 reached the final stage.
The project focused on practical environmental actions such as tree plantation, water conservation, waste management, and community awareness campaigns. Schools collaborated with NGOs and local communities, ensuring real-world impact beyond classrooms. Students actively participated and developed leadership skills while working on sustainability projects.
The programme concluded with a three-day national event held at Asia Plateau from April 17 to 19. The event was attended by Anil Swarup as the Chief Guest, who praised the initiative for connecting education with real-life challenges and encouraging problem-solving among students.
Under the Late Shri A.P.R. Nair Memorial Trophies, several schools were honoured for their performance. SBOA Public Senior Secondary School, Cochin, won the top prize, followed by Bhavan’s Munshi Vidyashram, Kerala. SBOA Matric Higher Secondary School, Coimbatore, secured the second runner-up position.
Notably, JH Tarapore School from Jamshedpur was declared the third runner-up, bringing recognition to the city.
Special awards were also given for innovative projects like “Pollution Tracker” and “Aqua Core Nexus.” All participating schools, teachers, and students received digital certificates, marking the successful completion of the initiative.
