Tokyo Paralympic gold medalist Pramod Bhagat to participate
Jamshedpur, March 12: The 6th National Para Badminton Championship 2023-2024 will be held from March 19-23, 2024 at Mohan Ahuja Stadium, Jamshedpur. The championship will bring together athletes from across the nation to showcase their exceptional athleticism and determination.
The event will see elite Para Athletes from various states demonstrating their skill and passion for the sport. Participants include Paralympians, World Champions and Asian Para Games medalists, informed Prabhakar Rao, Chairman, Para badminton India.

Addressing a press meet at Mohan Ahuja Stadium on Tuesday, Prabhakar Rao said, “Jamshedpur will be hosting the championship for the first time. Renowned names competing in the event includes Tokyo Paralympic gold medalist from Odisha and Krishna Nagar from Rajasthan. Tokyo Paralympics silver medalist Suhas L Yathiraj is also likely to take part in the competition.”
Replying to a query, Rao the Joint Secretary of Badminton Association if India, stated that 25 players from Jharkhand will participate in the championship.

The event is being jointly organised by Badminton Association of India and Tata Steel.
Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel said, over 370 elite para badminton players from over 20 states will be participating in the championship. A special mascot ‘Arohan’ has been designed for this event. Arohan signifies progress and resilience in the para-badminton community, embodying the spirit of overcoming obstacles. In a way, it inspires para-athletes to rise above adversity.
The championship will feature thrilling competitions across men’s and women’s singles, doubles and mixed doubles events.
The event will be held in the newly renovated Mohan Ahuja Stadium, which was inaugurated by Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel today.
Also present at the press conference were Rupesh Katriyar, Mukul Choudhari, Chief Sports Excellence Centres and Sports, Tata Steel and Vibhuti Adesara, Head Sports (Training Centres and Events) Tata Steel.
