Aqua Zumba at United Club, Water Sports at Dimna added attraction
Jamshedpur, May 4: As summer vacations are nearing for school students, parents have begun their search to engage children in different kind of indoor and outdoor activities. Like every year, Tata Steel Sports Department is organising Summer Camp 2023 for the children of the city. The Summer Camp will be organised from May 12-30, 2023, at JRD Tata Steel Sports Complex and other locations, said Mukul Vinayak Choudhary, Chief Sports Excellence Centres, TFA & Sports and Hemant Gupta, head, TSAF.
Addressing a press meet at JRD Tata Sports Complex on Thursday, they informed that 22-disiplinary summer camp will offer a host of sports training ranging from Swimming to Horse Riding to Cricket to Hockey to roller-skating and others. The Summer Camp this year is special as its being organised not only at JRD Tata Sports Complex but also at four other locations to gather more participation.
Children aged between 6 to 19 years can participate in archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, basketball, chess, cricket, football, golf, handball, horse riding, karate, kabaddi, roller skate / roll ball, swimming, table tennis, tennis and volleyball.
Hemant Gupta said that for Hockey enthusiasts – a special camp will be organised at Naval Tata Hockey Academy, for far locations like Gamharia, there is a special satellite summer camp that is being organised for children at TGS Colony and for children who prefer adventure there is a special Water Sports Camp at Dimna by Tata Steel Adventure Foundation. Aqua Zumba (18 year and above) session for the children will also be arranged at United Club.
He stated that cricket and football sessions for women will also be held.
“This year the children will also be groomed through children awareness sessions on menstruation, road and fire safety, good touch and bad touch, nutrition, and career in sports. Parents along with their children will also be sensitised on various topics to be build a better bond between them. There also will be a fitness fare from May 19-21 for children and parents where they can relish good food, enjoy graffiti wall painting and adventure zones. The Summer Camp will also sensitise the children towards sustainable development through teaching children how to make/build Eco-Bricks,” added Choudhary.
Hemant Gupta further said that the registration has already started which can be done offline and online. We expect a participation of around 2500 children this year and 1500 have already registered. Experienced coaches have been appointed for all sports.
Olympian Anand Menezes was also present at the press meet.
