Jamshedpur: Students honoured at Tagore School of Arts convocation celebration

Jamshedpur, July 2: The convocation ceremony for students who have successfully completed diploma courses in various art disciplines was held today at Rabindra Bhavan, the city’s center for art and culture. The event, organized by the Tagore Society, celebrated the achievements of these talented artists who have attained proficiency in their respective fields through their education at the renowned Tagore School of Arts.

The ceremony commenced with a captivating welcome song performed by students from the Tagore School of Arts, setting the tone for the event. The Chief Guest, Professor Jitu Singh, a senior officer at Tata Steel and XLRI, was honored with a bouquet of flowers and traditional attire as a token of appreciation. Dr. H.S. Pal delivered the welcome speech, highlighting the significance of art in life and emphasizing that true artists shape the future with their creativity. He expressed optimism that the diploma holders from the Tagore School of Arts would carve out their own identities in the global art scene.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s convocation ceremony marked the culmination of three years, honoring successful diploma holders from 2020-21, 2021-22, and 2022-23 in various artistic streams. The main disciplines included two-year diplomas in Decorative Arts and Crafts, three-year PG Diplomas, five-year diplomas in Rabindra Sangeet (music), six-year diplomas in Western Guitar, and six-year diplomas in Fine Arts.

Ashish Chaudhuri, the General Secretary of the Tagore Society, extended his best wishes to the outgoing artists, urging them to create a lasting impression on people’s hearts with their artistic prowess. He emphasized that art is a unifying force capable of bringing the world together, and encouraged the students to uphold the objectives of art in their future endeavors.

Professor Jitu Singh, the esteemed Chief Guest, delivered a compelling convocation speech, inspiring the diploma holders and presenting them with their prizes and certificates. He extended his warmest wishes to all the artists, commending them on their accomplishments. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Arup Ratan Basu, Chairman of the Tagore School of Arts. Principal Chandana Chowdhuri of the Tagore School of Arts graced the occasion with her presence, adding to the significance of the event.(
