NIT Jamshedpur Director Honoured with ‘Face of India – 2026’ Award

Jamshedpur: Director of the National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur, Goutam Sutradhar, has received the “Face of India – 2026” award from IndiaSpark for his leadership, academic excellence, and contributions to technical education.

Based in Gurugram, IndiaSpark connects students and young professionals with industry leaders to promote knowledge exchange, workforce development, and emerging industry insights.

The recognition highlights Prof. Sutradhar’s journey from a foundry engineer to the head of one of the country’s leading technical institutions. Throughout his career, he has served at several prominent organizations, including National Institute of Technology Manipur, National Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Technology (formerly NIFFT), Jadavpur University, Hindustan Motors, and Indian Railways.

Under his leadership, NIT Jamshedpur has strengthened its performance in academics, research, innovation, industry collaboration, and institutional development. Prof. Sutradhar has focused on inclusive growth, advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and creating opportunities for students from rural and small-town backgrounds.

Prof. Sutradhar has authored more than 125 research papers, written academic books, guided numerous doctoral scholars, and secured multiple patents. He has also contributed to several academic and professional bodies, including the Bureau of Indian Standards, National Board of Accreditation, All India Council for Technical Education, and Confederation of Indian Industry initiatives aimed at strengthening industry-academia collaboration.
