Jamshedpur: Saryu threatens protest against police inaction on scrap trade, oil cutting

Jamshedpur, December 7: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy has in a release claimed that during a visit to Burmamines, evidence of illegal scrap dumping and oil cutting.

He claimed that illegal scrap dumping is 50 meters away from Burmamines police station.

“Two days ago I had given a statement in the newspaper that within 24 hours the administration should stop illegal scrap dumping and illegal oil cutting, otherwise I will raise this matter with the Chief Minister. Illegal scrap and oil cutting did not stop, but one of my supporter and district president of Bharatiya Jantantra Yuva Morcha, Amit Sharma, was detained by the police in Birsanagar police station,” Roy said.

“The police claimed that Amit Sharma was detained on intelligence input that he was going to show black flag during chief minister’s program,” said Roy.

“I met Manish Kumar, manager of Burmamines depot of Bharat Petroleum and showed him this picture and he said that making such a tanker is completely illegal, but it is the responsibility of the local police to investigate it. I also informed about the fire a month before illegal oil cutting, he admitted that he had received information and also about illegal oil cutting,” informed Roy.

Roy also alleged that illegal scrap and oil pilfering gang has the protection of a BJP leader from Burmamines.

“Motorcycles, cars etc. which are being stolen from many places are being disposed of in illegal scrap yards. Many solar light poles installed by me in the city have also been cut and disposed of in the scrap yard. After the police raid, some solar light poles were seized from some scrap heap of Burmamines police station. The police caught the person who had stolen the pole and sent it to the scrap yard but did not take any action against the scrap yard operator,” said Roy.

Roy said that Bharatiya Janatantra Yuva Morcha members will hold a protest in front of the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police, East Sambhum on December 14 against the detention of Amit Sharma.

Meanwhile, programs will be organized in all the mandals of Jamshedpur to prepare a list of illegal businesses operating there.

“If the police administration does not take action against them, then a strong protest will be held. The Senior Superintendent of Police should receive information about this from his police stations and take action against the officers involved in this,” said Roy.
