Jamshedpur, June 9: Tata Workers’ Union leaders are making efforts in Delhi to secure EPS-95 benefits for Tata Steel employees and retirees who could not apply due to the closure of the application window. A delegation of the union recently met Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth to raise the issue.
The delegation included Tata Workers’ Union President Sanjeev Choudhary ‘Tunnu’, General Secretary Satish Singh, Deputy President Shailesh Singh, and Vice President Shahnawaz Alam. While Sanjeev Choudhary attended the meeting with the Union Labour Minister on Sunday, he was absent during the meeting with Sanjay Seth on Monday.
During the meetings, the union leaders submitted a memorandum stating that thousands of Tata Steel employees and retired workers are being deprived of EPS-95 pension benefits because they were unable to submit their applications before the deadline. They urged the Central Government to reopen the application window for at least one month so that all remaining eligible employees and pensioners can apply.
The delegation informed the ministers that both serving employees and retirees are facing financial losses due to the closure of the portal. The Union Ministers assured the delegation that the matter would be seriously examined and discussed with the Central Government before taking a decision.
Earlier, Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato had also raised the matter with the Union Labour Minister.
