Jamshedpur, June 9: Jharkhand is likely to witness the arrival of the southwest monsoon by June 17, bringing relief from the scorching heat prevailing across the state. According to the Meteorological Department, weather conditions are expected to change gradually over the next few days, with chances of rain, lightning, and strong winds in several districts.
On June 9, cloudy skies are expected in many parts of the state. Light rainfall accompanied by lightning and gusty winds may occur at isolated places in Ramgarh, Bokaro, Ranchi, Gumla, and Khunti districts. For June 10, the department has predicted lightning and strong winds with speeds of 40–50 kmph in several regions, except the north-western and adjoining central parts of Jharkhand.
The weather is expected to change significantly from June 11 due to the formation of cyclonic circulation. An Orange Alert has been issued for Dhanbad, Bokaro, Koderma, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, and Ranchi districts for June 11. These areas may experience squally winds reaching 50–60 kmph, along with thunderstorm activity and rainfall. Rainfall and cloudy conditions are expected to continue in many parts of the state from June 12 onward.
Meanwhile, temperatures continued to soar across Jharkhand. Jamshedpur recorded a maximum temperature of 41.3 degrees Celsius, an increase of 4.5 degrees in the last 24 hours. Medininagar remained the hottest place in the state at 43.1 degrees Celsius. Ranchi recorded 37.2 degrees, while Chaibasa touched 40.8 degrees Celsius.
