Jamshedpur, Dec 15: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner (DC) Vijaya Jadhav has directed all block education expansion officers (BEEO) to inspect the high schools whose students did not perform well in the monthly evaluation exam of class 9 and 10 held last month.
The BEEOs would ensure that these schools prepare their students for the Board exams by chalking out a working plan. They would also conduct inspection of 15 schools in their respective jurisdictional area. Their salaries would be withheld in case they fail to achieve their target, said the DC.
The DC was addressing the education department officials at a review meeting. She said the BEEOs should make arrangements for remedial classes in under-performing schools and also take measures to elicit children’s interest in studies. She said online classes were started in all high schools and joined by expert teachers from across the district every day. She said cent per cent attendance of students should be ensured in the schools.
The DC ordered issuance of show-cause notices to 515 headmasters for failing to enter attendance of students in e-Vidyavahini App and withholding of their salaries. She said 24 per cent teachers were not making attendance through the e-Vidyavahini App. She said the midday meal ration would be issued to schools only after entry of students’ attendance on e-Vidyavahini App.
The meeting was also attended by ADM Law and Order Nand Kishore Lal, NEP Director Jyotsna Singh, District Education Officer (DEO) Nirmala Barelia, District Superintendent of Education (DSE) Nishu Kumari, SDO (Education) Ashish Pandey, all BEEOs, Cluster Resource Persons (CRPs) and other district level officials of education department, sources said.
The DC said there are around 3000 students in the district whose bank accounts have not been opened due to some petty issues with Aadhaar Number or other credentials. She said the bank accounts of all students should be opened at the earliest after submission of their application forms in banks within next one week. She said the pre-Matric scholarship of students should be given to all students without fail or else the BEEOs concerned would face action.
The ADM Law and Order said counseling of teachers would be held during Guru Goshthi.
