Seraikela, July 6: A Railway locomotive pilot, identified as Suresh Mahato, resident of Sini, died in a road accident on Seraikela-Kandra main road on Wednesday.

Sources said the mishap occurred when Mahato’s bike rammed against the roadside railing. Mahato was returning home on his bike with his friend Motilal Mahato after buying clothes from Seraikela. Just then the truck coming in opposite direction moved past Mahato at high speed. In order to move away from the truck, Mahato collided with the railing and succumbed to critical injuries at the scene while his friend got seriously injured. Motilal was taken to Sadar Hospital in Seraikela. The deceased was posted as a Railway loco pilot in Bhuvneshwar. He was unmarried and had come to his hometown just two days ago, sources said.

Meanwhile, in another road mishap on the Seraikela-Kandra main road, an unknown vehicle knocked down two persons. One Arjun Mandal, 42, suffered leg fracture in the incident. One more person was injured in the mishap, sources said.
