Jamshedpur Police bust chain snatching gang, 9 nabbed 

Jamshedpur, August 19:  Nine members of the gang, who escaped by snatching gold chains from the necks of women in the deserted places of the city, have been arrested by the city police.

Those arrested also include a jewellery shop owner of Kitadih in Parsudih.

Jamshedpur SSP Prabhat Kumar  said that a total of 15 miscreants are involved in snatching chains.

Out of this, a total of nine  have been arrested by the police. Raids are being conducted by the police team to arrest the rest.

According to the SSP, Sumit Singh alias Sambha of Namotola of Parsudih police station area, Saurabh Singh of Goalpahari, Saurabh Yadav alias Golu alias Sahil of Namotola, Aditya Singh of Goalpahari of Parsudih, Sanjay Kumar Verma of Kitadih of Parsudih, Mohit Burman of Mango Gurdwara Road, Shubham Kumar of Ulidih Rajendranagar, Rahul Kumar Singh alias Rahul Bachha of Ulidih Darbhanga Dairy and Harshit Raj Singh alias Neta Bachha of Mango Old Purulia Road Kuwar Basti are included.

Police have recovered three pieces of gold chain, five pieces of mobile, three bikes, shoes, slippers, clothes and other items from the gang members. On August 9, two miscreants riding a bike had snatched a gold chain from a woman near the Teen Konia ground of Sitaramdera.

Only after this a special team was formed in the case by city SP K Vijay Shankar and ASP Shubhanshu Jain. In this Sundernagar police station in-charge Anuj Kumar and many other police officers were involved.

After the arrest of 9 members of the chain snatching gang, the police have solved a total of 18 snatching incidents in the district. In this, two incidents in Sitaramdera police station area on July 11 and one incident on July 13, robbery in Telco on June 29 and August 6, incident of robbery in Govindpur on July 10 and July 18, in Parsudih on July 18. The robbery took place in Bistupur on 27th June and 10th July, Kadma on 14th May, 16th July, 26th July and 3rd August, Sonari on 20th July, Birsanagar on 31st July and Adityapur on 10th August.

The city police team was keeping a watch for the last one week to crack down on the snatching gang. Meanwhile, on getting the clue, the police was also raiding the spot. Six more people of the gang are still out of the police custody in the case, but the police is also conducting raids for his arrest.
