Accused arrested while shopping at Big Bazar, search on for his aides
Jamshedpur: City police here on Monday claimed to have arrested a cyber criminal, identified as Ujjwal Kumar Das, posted as a junior engineer at Swarnarekha Multipurpose Project in Jamtara. The accused has revealed the names of his associates during police interrogation.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Anoop Birtharay, “We have shared the information revealed by the accused with the Jamtara police. Three more persons including Prabhakar Das and Ankit Das have been arrested with the help of Jamtara police.”
The SSP said the accused persons will soon be brought to the city for a thorough interrogation in order to plan further crackdown on the gang of cyber criminals. He said the city police had got a tip-off about a cyber criminal shopping at Big Bazar in Mango. A day ago, Ujjwal Das had gone to Big Bazar for shopping.
He had paid his bills through Future Pay wallet. The Big Bazar authorities were informed by Future Pay that the said money had been misappropriated by frauds in Birbhum. Soon, city police was informed about the incident. The SSP set up a team to crack down on the culprits.
During interrogation, the accused engineer said he has been posted in Chaliyama as a junior engineer since 2013. The accused said his friends and other members of his family were into cyber crime. He said all his friends are linked through mobile phone. The gang members put the money earned through cyber fraud in the wallet.
The user ID and password of Future Pay is sent by the gang members, identified as Prabhakar Das, Rajesh Das, Laxman Das, Ankit alias Bunty, Aja alias Prakash and Tapan Das.
