Jamshedpur, March 24:The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) matriculation and intermediate started on Thursday under tight security arrangements. No untoward incidents were reported from anywhere in the district on the first day. ADM ( law and order) NK Lal inspected the examination centres and gave important instructions.
The number of centres has been increased to provide students a better ambience to answer their examinations to reduce the risk of malpractices for students. The intermediate examinations too were peaceful on the first day.

The examinations of the faculty of arts, science and commerce were conducted in the first shift from 9:45 am to 1.05 pm and in the second shift will be held from 2 pm to 5:20 pm. Static magistrates and zonal magistrates have been deputed in various examination centers of Ghatshila subdivision and Dhalbhum subdivision to keep the examination malpractice free and to maintain law and order. During the examination period, the District Control Room will be operated in various ways for the help of magistrates and the general public.

It may be noted that 67 centers have been set up for matriculation across the district, in which 21700 students will appear, while 29 centers have been set up for inter, in which 18578 students will appear. Magistrate and police force will be deployed in all the centres.
Flying Squad will monitor the centers. Section 144 will be applicable within a radius of 100 meters of all the centres, as well as the top officials of the district themselves will inspect all the centres. The centers have also been equipped with CCTV cameras so that there is no apprehension of malpractice in the examination in any way.
Foolproof security arrangements have been made for exams. The district administration deputed static magistrates in each of the examination centres while there were 18 zonal magistrates who would look into the smooth examinations. There were five to six magistrates who would be patrolling the centres for surprise checking.
With throbbing heart beats and pulsating nerves students of the city participated in the examinations. Nervousness ruled the campus as students made last minute revision and discussions with their classmates.
School authorities informed said that special arrangements have been made for the 10th and 12th examination. A flying squad has been constituted to keep a vigil look on the examination process.
“We have made elaborate arrangements for the exams and are happy to note that everything went off smoothly. Students were satisfied with the question papers too,” said an official.
The East Singhbhum district education department is pinning hopes on better matriculation results because of the academic initiatives taken throughout the year.
“We have tried our level best to help teachers and students. I hope the results would be better both for matriculation and intermediate. The rest can only be said after the examination is over and when the results are out,” said an official.
