Jamshedpur, Sept 18: Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato today intervened to resolve a long-pending road construction issue by securing approval from South Eastern Railway for work on a crucial stretch from Barigora Railway Crossing to Govindpur.

The 2.7 km stretch falls under Railway jurisdiction and had been left incomplete due to the absence of an NOC (No-Objection Certificate). As a result, the contractor could not proceed with construction despite ongoing work by the Jharkhand Government’s Road Construction Department on the adjoining section. The incomplete portion had developed deep potholes, making it nearly impassable, especially during the monsoon.

With Durga Puja approaching, MP Mahato spoke directly with the General Manager of South Eastern Railway and the Divisional Railway Manager of Chakradharpur Railway Division, stressing the urgent need for permission in public interest. Responding to his appeal, the Railway GM assured that clearance would be granted within a day or two, allowing the contractor to begin work immediately without interference from local railway officials.

MP Mahato subsequently instructed Road Construction Department Executive Engineer Deepak Sahay and contractor Mangotia Construction to commence work on the stretch without delay. He emphasized that even if full repairs could not be completed before the festival, the road should at least be made passable for public convenience.

The assurance from Railway authorities had effectively cleared technical hurdles, enabling work to proceed at a rapid pace. Residents of the area welcomed the intervention, hopeful that the road, which had long been a source of inconvenience, would soon be improved ahead of the festive season.
