Jamshedpur, July 9: Jamshedpur East MLA Purnima Sahu met Tata Steel UISL (formerly JUSCO) General Manager R.K. Singh at her Agrico residential office on Tuesday to raise serious civic issues affecting the Tata lease area. Accompanied by her representative Gunjan Yadav, the legislator expressed concern over deteriorating public services and urged the company to resolve them promptly.
“The residents of the Tata lease area are being deprived of basic civic amenities, which is impacting everyday life,” said Sahu. She pointed out irregular road and drain cleaning across the city, leading to waterlogging and foul odour during monsoons. She also raised the issue of long-neglected playground maintenance and lack of grass cutting.
Highlighting poor waste water management, the MLA noted, “Sewer pipelines are clogged and chambers are damaged. Dirty water enters homes during rains and this needs urgent repair and cleaning.” She criticized the slow pace of road repairs and the halt in fogging and anti-larvae spraying operations, crucial in preventing diseases like dengue and malaria.
Sahu further pointed out that many public toilets constructed by the company are in unusable condition. Several community halls and toilets still lack electricity and water connections, making them non-operational.
Raising concerns over electricity and water supply delays, she said, “Street light repairs are being delayed unnecessarily and people are still waiting for water connections.” She also demanded proper disposal of silt removed from drains, which is currently dumped nearby and flows back into the drains.
The MLA urged for permanent dividers in Baradwari instead of the existing bamboo barriers and proposed the development of the Baradwari Plot Owners’ Association ground into a public facility with amenities like an open gym and walking track.
She also called for improving water quality from the Moharda plant, resolving chronic waterlogging in areas like Kalimati Road and Tinplate roundabout and inquired about pending work on the Tinplate Kali Mandir Market entry gate. (w/nkm)
