Jamshedpur Students confront Education Minister over suspension of Intermediate classes

Jamshedpur, July 8: Tension broke out outside Michael John Auditorium in Bistupur on Tuesday when a group of Intermediate students surrounded Jharkhand Education Minister Ramdas Soren, demanding immediate resumption of their suspended college classes.

The students claimed that their studies had been stalled for two months due to halted Intermediate-level teaching, leaving them unprepared for upcoming exams. “Our academic future is in limbo. We need classes to resume now,” said one of the protesting students.

While the minister assured the students that necessary steps would be taken, many were unconvinced. “We’ve heard enough assurances. This is just political lip service,” said a student, accusing the minister of inaction and a double standard.

The incident occurred during a felicitation ceremony honouring Class 10 and 12 toppers from JAC, CBSE and ICSE boards. As meritorious students were being awarded inside, a crowd of students outside protested against the collapse of regular education.

The event has raised serious concerns about the deteriorating state of Jharkhand’s education system, with students voicing strong criticism of the government’s apathy.
