Jamshedpur MLA advises year long campaign to clean drains

Jamshedpur, July 1: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Rai has asked district administration, Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) and Tata Steel UISL (formerly Jusco) to fix short term and long term program for management of major drains and its tributaries located in his assembly constituency and act on it.

In this regard, he had a separate meeting with the Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum and the Special Officer of JNAC and talked to the General Manager of TSUISL over the phone. He has said that he should not link the cleaning of drains to the time of monsoon, but add a year-long campaign about it. As a long-term program, they should do concrete work at all the identified places so that water does not enter the homes of the settlements from there like the day before yesterday, and as a long-term program, they should make year-long plans so that guardwalls are erected in all the drains.

He suggested that a program should be done to cover the big drains. He also asked the Deputy Commissioner to call a meeting with the competent officials of JNAC and TSUISL to solve the problem of drains in the rainy season as soon as possible. Make sketches of drains in full length and start working on the plan to cover them by making guardwalls.
