Young players shine across U-7 and U-13 categories in Jamshedpur
Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum District Chess Association organised Under-7 and Under-13 chess championships at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Sunday, witnessing impressive performances by young players.
In the Under-13 Open category, Rudra Nil Roy secured first place with 7.5 points. Dev Aditya Ghosh finished second with 6.5 points, followed by Vivaan Basak in third. Ansh Saurabh Mishra and Mayan Jha secured fourth and fifth positions respectively.
In the Under-13 Girls category, Bidushi Munshi emerged as the winner with 5.5 points. Zaira Ahmad secured second place, while Eshani Choudhury finished third. Deepika Singh and Monali Biswas took fourth and fifth spots.
In the Under-7 Girls category, Mananya Mardi claimed first place, followed by Vidhisha Gupta and Aakarshi Mahi in second and third positions. Aaratrika Sen and Riddhi Purnavi Panigrahi secured fourth and fifth places.
In the Under-7 Open category, Sourish Maiti finished first with 5 points. Vihaan Pradip More and Virat Pradip More secured second and third positions, followed by Rudransh Singh and Gunav Chauhan.
The top 10 players in each category were awarded prizes.
The top two players from each category have qualified to represent the district at the upcoming state championship.
The event was officiated by arbiters Chiranjee Lal, Manoj Pandey, Aman Chaubey, and Miss Shubhangi Verma, ensuring smooth conduct of matches.
The awards were distributed by Tata Steel Accounts Department HOD Nitin Chandra, ESDCA PR Officer Purbi Ghosh, General Secretary Jayant Kumar Bhuyan, Chief Arbiter IA Chandan Kumar Prasad, and Sucheta Bhuyan.
