Jamshedpur, Dec 12: A group of 142 shopkeepers from Mango Haat met with the marketing secretary of the Market Committee, Abhishek Anand, at his office today. The shopkeepers, who have been running their businesses in Mango Haat for years, expressed their concerns about the notices being circulated in the media, which have caused them distress. They have been paying market fees for a long time and believe they should be allowed to continue their businesses without any disruption.
In response, Secretary Anand assured the shopkeepers that they have been given a 15-day period to present their side of the case. During this time, they are required to submit proof supporting their claims as legitimate shopkeepers. Those whose family members (fathers, grandfathers, etc.) were allotters of the land but are no longer alive will need to provide an affidavit along with their family membership list or genealogy records.

The shopkeepers requested some leniency in the matter, but Secretary Anand emphasized that they first need to present their side before any further considerations can be made. Regarding the 90 shopkeepers who had set up their businesses illegally, Anand stated that they, too, would need to provide justification for their presence in the market before any further decisions are taken. After the meeting, the shopkeepers left, awaiting the next steps in the process.
