Jamshedpur: Man Beaten to Death Over Parking Dispute

JAMSHEDPUR: Parsudih police have arrested six people, including a juvenile, after a mob lynched a 27-year-old man in Sarjamda Basti. The savage attack, triggered by a dispute over a parked motorcycle, was caught on CCTV.

The arrested suspects include Sujal Lohar, Haripado, and Ravi, alongside three others.

From a Petty Dispute to Murder

The incident took place at 2:30 AM on Wednesday in front of the Sarjamda Gurudwara. According to Bajrangi, a friend of the victim, Rohit Munda had attended a party near a local pond on Tuesday night. During the gathering, Rohit shifted a parked motorcycle to a different spot.

When the owner couldn’t find his bike, he and his associates accused Rohit of bike theft. The argument rapidly escalated. The mob surrounded Rohit and relentlessly attacked him with sticks, clubs, and bamboo strips. Despite Rohit begging for mercy, the attackers continued the assault until he collapsed unconscious, fleeing only when local residents began to gather.

A Mother’s Heartbreak

Rohit’s mother, Putul Kalindi, rushed her injured son home after the attack. She gave him water and left briefly to visit a relative’s house. Tragically, when she returned on Thursday morning, she found Rohit dead in his bed, sparking intense grief and outrage across the neighborhood.

“They targeted my son earlier too,” Putul Kalindi alleged, revealing that the accused had previously assaulted Rohit during a Ganesh Puja immersion procession. While the community had settled that previous dispute through a compromise, she claimed the group continued to bully her son. “This murder is the result of long-standing personal enmity.”

Police Investigation Underway

Parsudih police have registered a murder complaint and taken six suspects into custody. Investigators are currently reviewing the chilling CCTV footage and gathering forensic evidence as the probe continues.
