Jamshedpur: Rahul Dubey—a named accused in the sensational Himanshu Singh murder case—surrendered before the Bistupur Police on Friday. Following his surrender, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) immediately moved him to an undisclosed location for intense interrogation.

The surrender marks a massive win for local law enforcement, who have been hunting the suspects involved in the brutal killing of the Karni Sena youth leader.
Key Highlights
- Surrender Under Pressure: Facing relentless police raids and the imminent threat of property attachment (Kurki-Zabti), Rahul Dubey walked into the Bistupur police station and turned himself in.
- Active Interrogation: The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and the SIT are currently grilling Dubey for crucial leads.
- The Crackdown So Far: Police have already jailed more than 10 individuals, including bar owner Neeraj Singh and several minors. The prime conspirator, Vishwanath Mandal (alias Bodra), surrendered in court earlier.
How the Police Broken the Fugitive’s Resolve
Following Himanshu Singh’s murder, the Kolhan DIG and Jamshedpur SSP formed a dedicated SIT to track down the killers. The team conducted back-to-back raids across multiple states and suspected hideouts. With the police closing in and legal threats mounting, Dubey found himself cornered and chose to capitulate.
Investigators are now focusing their interrogation on three key areas:
- Dubey’s exact role on the night of the crime.
- His whereabouts while fleeing from the law.
- The identities of the people who provided him shelter and financial aid while absconding.
The Night of the Crime
The case dates back to the night of June 27, when a minor altercation outside the DD Bar in Bistupur escalated into horrific violence. A mob brutally attacked Karni Sena leader Himanshu Singh with sharp weapons, including choppers and axes. Singh later succumbed to his severe injuries during treatment, sparking widespread outrage across the city.
