Jamshedpur Lunar Eclipse: Caution advised for viewing and rituals during the Chandra Grahan 

Jamshedpur, Oct 27: On Saturday night, at 1:45 AM, the final lunar eclipse of the year is set to occur.

The eclipse is expected to end at 2:24 AM. On Thursday, a meeting of the Dharmarakshini Pourohitya Mahasangha was held at the Anandeshwar Shiva Temple in Sakchi, where various Acharyas from different locations in the city were present.

During the meeting, discussions were held regarding the precautions to be taken during this eclipse.

Acharyas performed a ritual related to the Khandagraha Chandra Grahan and discussed the importance of the lunar eclipse. The Mahasangha president, Pt. Vipin Kumar Jha, mentioned that this lunar eclipse will be visible in India on the full moon night of Ashwin Shukla Paksha, which falls on October 28th.

According to Indian Standard Time, the eclipse will begin at 1:05 AM, and the ‘sutak’ period, where rituals are avoided, will commence nine hours earlier at 4:05 PM on the preceding evening. The midpoint of the eclipse is at 1:45 AM, and it concludes at 2:24 AM. The eclipse’s touch will be seen during the entire duration in India.

Precautions are advised during the eclipse, and it is recommended not to perform rituals or consume food during this time. It is also advised that pregnant women avoid going to open courtyards or rooftops. This lunar eclipse will be visible not only in India but also in the western and southwestern Pacific Ocean, Australia, Asia, Europe, Africa, the eastern parts of North and South America, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Indian Ocean.
