Jamshedpur Love Jihad Case: Shabbir Ansari arrested for blackmailing minor girl

Jamshedpur, Feb 26: Kadma police here on Sunday arrested Shabbir Ansari, accused of blackmailing a minor Hindu girl to convert to Islam after allegedly trapping her into a romantic relationship by hiding his religious identity. The accused has been sent to judicial custody.

Police sources said the arresting was made following an FIR lodged by the victim. The accused had allegedly introduced himself to the minor girl as Sameer Kumar. After several days of friendship, he proposed to marry her and started putting pressure on her to convert to Islam. Shocked to know that Sameer was actually Shabbir Ansari, the girl refused to give in to his demand for conversion. The accused thereafter allegedly started blackmailing her. He told her he would post her private videos which he had made on social media. Fed up with the mental torture, the minor complained to Kadma police. Several Hindu outfits had staged dharna at the police station and demanded arresting of the accused, police officials said.
