Jamshedpur, Sep 24: Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) on Saturday launched a drive to remove vendors from the parking lot situated on the roadside between Sakchi roundabout and Bengal Club.
Special Officer Sanjay Kumar said he had got a tip-off about several parking contractors providing space to vendors at the parking lot to sell their goods. Acting promptly, the Special Officer sent a team of officials to Sakchi to verify the information and remove encroachment from the road. As many as 150 carts and temporary shops were removed today. The vendors and traders were warned against carrying on business on the roadside. They were told they will have to pay huge fine in case they continue encroaching the main road.
Kumar said notices were served to the parking contractors earlier seeking explanation for allowing vendors to use the parking space on the roadside. He said the contractors should have informed the JNAC about the encroachment.
