Jamshedpur: JHALSA chairman orders ex-gratia for Kandra mishap victims

Jamshedpur, April 25: Jharkhand Legal Services Authority (JHALSA) executive chairman Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh directed Seraikela-Kharsawan District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) to give Rs 20,000 as ex gratia to the next of kin of Kandra road accident victims.

One Lipi Devi died while another woman, Kumari Parvati Manjhi, was seriously injured in a road accident in Kandra on Sunday last.

As per the instructions of Justice Aparesh, Principal District and Sessions Judge-cum-chairman of Seraikela-Kharsawan DLSA, Vijay Kumar, asked the DLSA secretary Kumar Kranti Prasad to take necessary steps to comply with the said order. Prasad met the next of kin of late Lipi Devi and the injured Kumari Parvati at MGM Hospital and assured to provide them interim assistance. He further met the Superintendent of MGM Hospital and got the injured woman shifted to ICU. He also spoke to the doctors to discuss about the victim’s treatment. He said Rs 20,000 would be issued for the cremation of late Lipi Kumari and that the process of issuing compensation had started and it would soon be given to the bereaved family.
