Jamshedpur, March 21: The district administration has restricted the use of cell phones and hi-tech digital watches for the students in the examination rooms for matriculation and intermediate starting from March 24. The administration has imposed Section 144 at the examination centres. Invigilators and teachers on exam duty will also not be allowed with mobile phones at the centres. The exams will end on April 25.
Section 144 prohibits and restrains against entry in the examination centre by any unauthorised person and also prohibits and restrain against any such conduct and interference which may result in breach of peace and public tranquility.
This year there are 25012 matric examinees who would appear from 67 centres and 19343 intermediate students at 34 centres in East Singhbhum.
“Students will not be allowed with cell phones. If found they will be kept with the security officials. There will be a sufficient number of policemen at one centre and a patrolling officer for centres,” noted an official.
“A meeting was organised to make sure that the examination for both matric and intermediate was transparent and fair. So we had called the centre superintendent and principals of various colleges to clarify their doubts. We have tried our level best to ensure safety for teachers and students. I hope the results would be better both for matriculation and intermediate,” said an official.
Students will be properly checked at the entry point and cell phones will not be allowed inside the hall. In case students are found coming with phones, they should be treated strictly and the cellphones should be kept at a safe place along with the bags. The DEO has also asked the centre incharges to be at the treasury office on time to collect the question papers and answer sheets and also to cross-check the date and the subject.
“We will ensure that the examinations are conducted properly and peacefully. We have discussed all the necessary points at the meeting today,” said an official.
The centre superintendents have been asked to arrange for electricity at the centres if there is no electricity connection. Also the superintendents have been asked to arrange lights and sufficient water for examinees. The district administration will depute one magistrate at each centre while there will be a patrolling magistrate for every three or four centres.
Foolproof security arrangements have been made for exams. The district administration has already deputed static magistrates in each of the examination centres while there will be 18 zonal magistrates who would look into the smooth examinations. There would be five to six magistrates who would be patrolling the centres for surprise checking.
“We have been strictly asked not to allow cellphones in the campus. We have acquainted him with our issues concerning the security and infrastructure,” said a centre superintendent.
