Jamshedpur: Holi celebrations turned sour as a 42-year-old AJSU party activist was shot dead at Dulmi village under Chowka police station area in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Friday night. The victim was identified as Subodh Singh Sardar. He was riding back home at Kharsawan from a football tournament organised at Chowka when he was shot.
Soon after the incident the local people rushed him to Tata Main Hospital in an auto, but doctors declared him dead.
The police have started the investigation but are clueless about the attackers except that the assailants had fired twice at the victim, causing one of the bullets to hit through his shoulder. Due to excess bleeding he died.
OC, Chowka police station, Dhanraj Kumar said that as per the iniatial probe the deceased had a criminal record and it suspected that the murder was the outcome of the enmity with another gang.
” The incident took place when the victim, who was a resident of Kharsawan, was riding back home on his bike alone. The assailants followed him and opened fire on him at an isolated place. We are yet to get a clue about the attackers but we will definitely find out those responsible for the killing,” said Kumar.
The Chowka OC who had visited the spot and to the Tata Main Hospital said they have shifted the body to MGM medical college mortuary for postmortem.
According to information, the police are collecting video clippings from those who turned up to watch the football tournament and also taking statements from people in Dulmi village for getting a clue about the assailants. They are trying to find out the gang the victim had rivalry with.
