Jamshedpur : Health Minister and Jamshedpur West MLA, Banna Gupta, undertook a comprehensive inspection of key Chhath Ghats in the city, including Sonari Domuhani Chhath Ghat, Kadma Sati Ghat, and Kadma Neel Sarovar Chhath Ghat. The visit aimed at ensuring meticulous preparations for the upcoming Chhath festival, focusing on various aspects to enhance devotees’ experience.
During the inspection, Gupta issued crucial instructions to officials, emphasizing the need for repairs, cleaning, lighting, levelling, barricading, and the establishment of changing rooms at the Chhath ghats. He also prioritized the installation of a proper lighting system, ensuring ease of traffic flow to the ghats, and repairing the surrounding roads. Additionally, arrangements for drinking water and the marking of danger zones were highlighted as essential aspects of the preparations.
Gupta, cognizant of the significance of the Chhath festival, underscored the urgency of meticulous planning and execution. He directed officials to prepare for tax avoidance and instructed them on the proper application of bleaching powder as a preventive measure. The Minister expressed his commitment to maintaining coordination with the district administration to ensure a seamless Chhath experience for devotees and fast observers.
Anticipating the festival’s proximity, the Minister announced plans to hold a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner to review and further streamline the preparations. He assured the public that every effort would be made to facilitate Chhath celebrations without hindrance or difficulty.
Accompanying Minister Gupta during the inspection were notable figures including officials of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee, Ravi Prakash, along with Manoj Jha, Prabhat Thakur, Kailash Rajak, Sanjay Tiwari, Majid Akhtar, Sanjay Thakur, Amit Prasad, Sanjeev Jha, Manas Giri, Jaiprakash Sahu, Bilal Gufrani, Baban Shukla, Bunty Sharma, Vinod Rajak, Santosh Singh, Shilpi Chakraborty, Pappu Singh Ujjain, Durga Singh, Bharat Garhwal, Anand Pandey, Usha Yadav, Baby Singh Munda, Santosh Jain, Amit Singh, Hari, Suku Chauhan, Guddi Verma, Sanjay Azad, Manoj Bhagat, Dumpy Aggarwal, Pankaj Aggarwal, and others.
Highlighting the traditional practice of devotees offering prayers to the Sun god by dipping into the river, the administration has been instructed to identify safe places (Chhat ghats) for these offerings. Additionally, divers and life jackets are to be deployed in adequate strength at the Chhat ghats to ensure the safety of the devotees. With Chhath set to be celebrated in the third week of November, the administration is gearing up to make the festivities safe, enjoyable, and culturally enriching for all participants.
During the inspection, Minister Gupta suggested the development of riverfronts and the implementation of an urban haat project at Shastrinagar in Kadma. Recognizing the traditional practice of devotees offering prayers to the Sun god by dipping into the river, the administration has been tasked with identifying safe places (Chhat ghats) for these offerings. Additionally, measures such as deputing divers and providing an adequate number of life jackets at Chhath ghats have been emphasized to ensure the safety of participants during the festival.
