Chandigarh: A tragic bus accident in Punjab’s Fatehgarh Sahib killed at least six people and injured around 20 others late Tuesday night. The victims, including women and children, were returning from Anandpur Sahib after celebrating Baisakhi.
Emergency teams and local residents rushed the injured to nearby hospitals, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Details of the Accident
The accident occurred around 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday near Himmatpura on the Morinda-Chunni road.

The Route: Approximately 40 devotees from the Bassi Assembly constituency were traveling home from Anandpur Sahib in Ropar district.

The Cause: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shubham Agarwal stated that the vehicle reportedly developed a mechanical fault.

The Crash: Investigators believe the driver lost control of the bus, which kemudian rammed into an electric pole before overturning.
Rescue and Medical Response
Local residents arrived first at the scene to pull victims from the wreckage. Police and emergency teams soon joined the rescue operation to transport the passengers to safety.

Official Reactions
SSP Shubham Agarwal confirmed that police are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the mechanical failure.
