Jamshedpur, Mar 22: The Jamshedpur police have solved the March 17 firing case that took place in Garudbasa, Govindpur Prakashnagar, leading to the arrest of the main accused, Tushar Karmakar (19). He was taken into custody on Thursday night near the Khairbani Football Ground and sent to jail on Friday, as per the police statement.
City SP Kumar Shivashish, addressing a press conference, stated that Tushar Karmakar was the cousin of the victim, Shambhu Kumar Lohar and the two had a long-standing dispute since January 1. On the day of the incident, a heated argument escalated into violence, resulting in Tushar shooting Shambhu in anger. Shambhu succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Tata Motors Hospital.
Upon interrogation, Tushar revealed the location of the bullet shell used in the incident, which was recovered from near Manpeeta Sai Temple. The police also seized a firearm and live bullets from the crime scene.
“A case was registered on March 18 and a special raiding team was formed under the leadership of City DSP. After an extensive search operation, we successfully arrested the accused,” said City SP Kumar Shivashish.
Tushar has been sent to judicial custody and further investigations are ongoing.
