Jamshedpur: In a powerful push to bring every child back to school, Education Minister Ramdas Soren formally launched the ‘School Ruar-2025 (Back to School Campaign)’ at a district-level event held in Town Hall, Sidhgora on Friday. The campaign is aimed at ensuring 100% enrollment, retention, and transition of children aged 5 to 18 years in government schools across the state.
The event witnessed the presence of key dignitaries including MLA Jamshedpur East Purnima Sahu, District Council President Bari Murmu, Vice President Pankaj, District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal, senior officials, public representatives, and community leaders. The ceremony began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the start of a mission to secure a literate and empowered Jharkhand.Launching the campaign, Minister Ramdas Soren emphasized that education is the most powerful tool to bring transformation in society. “The Abua Sarkar is committed to ensuring that not a single child is deprived of education. The School Ruar campaign is a mission to reduce dropouts and bring back every child to the classroom. The success of this campaign lies in collective action by teachers, panchayat members, and the community,” he said.
On the occasion, students from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Patamda, who brought pride to the district by securing first place in the national-level Republic Day 2025 Band Competition, were honored. Additionally, students who were admitted to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya were felicitated for their academic excellence. Village Education Committee members were also recognized for their dedicated efforts in promoting education at the grassroots level.
In a move to spread awareness, an Awareness Chariot (Jan Chetna Rath) was flagged off, which will tour various localities to sensitize parents and communities about the importance of sending their children to school.
MLA Purnima Sahu called the campaign a moral responsibility of society. “Every child has the right to education. Let’s ensure we fulfill our duty by supporting their journey. School Ruar is not just about numbers; it’s about changing lives,” she said.
Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal stressed on qualitative improvement in education. “Beyond enrollment, we must ensure that children receive quality education. Teachers and community leaders must work hand in hand to create an environment that encourages learning,” she stated.
Zila Parishad President Bari Murmu passionately appealed to parents: “Education is the greatest gift you can give your child. It will define their future and the future of our society.” District officials including District Education Officer Manoj Kumar, Education Superintendent Ashish Pandey, Public Relations Officer Panchanan Oraon, and Block Development Officers (BDOs) pledged full support for the campaign’s success.
The campaign is a statewide initiative designed to bring about a holistic transformation in the education sector of Jharkhand. Key objectives include: 100% Enrollment of children aged 5-18 in government schools, Regular attendance and retention of students.
The campaign will run intensively until May 10, 2025, with monitoring and implementation at the state, district, block, and school levels.
