Jamshedpur, May 26: As the Enforcement Directorate (ED) tightens its grip on former mine secretary Pooja Singhal, new faces are also emerging.
As part of this episode ED has sent notice to three District Mining Officers (DMOs) of Kolhan and they have been called in Ranchi on Thursday.
District Mining Officer of East Singhbhum, Sanjay Kumar Sharma, District Mining Officer of Seraikela-Kharsawan Sunny Kumar and District Mining Officer of West Singhbhum Nishant Abhishek have switched off their phones after receiving the notice.
It has been only about five months since the DMO of East Singhbhum came to the district, but Sunny Kumar, DMO of Seraikela, has been posted here for about three years. Earlier, Sanjay Sharma has also been posted in Seraikela.
However, according to what has come to light so far, all the three DMOs of Kolhan are officers of the same batch. In this, maximum sand mining has taken place in Seraikela-Kharsawan. SDO Ranjit Lohra had complained against the DMO a month ago toDeputy Commissioner Arva Rajkamal for abandoning illegal sandladen vehicles. After this, the Deputy Commissioner has also constituted an inquiry committee under the leadership of Additional Deputy Commissioner Subodh Kumar. Due to the Panchayat elections, the committee has not started the investigation yet. On the instructions of Deputy Commissioner cum District Magistrate Vijaya Jadhav, action is going on in the district regarding illegal mining and transportation. In this sequence, District Transport Officer Dinesh Ranjan seized seven vehicles on Wednesday. In this, a total fine of Rs 3,82,600 was recovered from four vehicles seized for illegal mineral transport in Dhalbhumgarh police station. Action has been taken on all the seized vehicles regarding overloading, permit failure etc. Along with this, seven heavy vehicles were seized by the traffic police in the action taken by the traffic police regarding unauthorized parking from Mango to Jemco Chowk on the National Highway. Along with this, action was taken by the District Transport Officer to block all the above-mentioned vehicles in the software.
